Privacy Policy

danang.bike is an AI mobility concierge that helps international riders find a motorbike they may legally and safely ride in Vietnam. We believe in handling as little of your data as possible. This notice explains what we collect, why, where it goes, and how to remove it. It is written in plain language and is not legal advice.

What we collect

When you chat with our assistant (Kai) on our website or WhatsApp, we process: the messages you send; the country that issued your licence and whether you hold a 1968 International Driving Permit (to check what you can legally ride); the bike, dates and trip details you choose; and an opaque session identifier. On WhatsApp, your phone number is pseudonymised (one-way hashed) before it is stored, so our database does not hold your raw number.

One exception, stated plainly: so that a person, not only Kai, can reply to a WhatsApp conversation you started, we also keep your number inside that conversation record in encrypted form (AES-256-GCM). It is never stored in plain text, it is used only to answer the chat you opened, and it is deleted together with the conversation on the same retention schedule.

We do not ask for your passport, hold any document as a deposit, or take any payment online. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

Why we use it

Solely to help you: to check your legal eligibility, recommend a suitable bike at an honest all-in price, and record a priority request. A hire is agreed only when it is confirmed with you in the same chat. We do not use your data for advertising profiling, and we never sell your data.

Where it is processed (international transfers)

To run the assistant and the chat, your messages are processed by service providers whose servers are located outside Vietnam: Anthropic (AI), OpenRouter (a backup route to an AI model, used only when the main one is unavailable), Meta/WhatsApp (messaging), Neon (database) and Vercel (hosting), in the United States. When a conversation needs a person, our team gets an alert through Telegram with the conversation's pseudonymous code, your licence country, your eligibility status, the bike and the request code, never your name, number or messages. By using the service you understand that this cross-border processing takes place. We share data with these providers only as processors, to deliver the service — not for their own purposes.

How long we keep it

Conversations, including your messages and your number, are automatically deleted after 3 days.

Some records are kept longer, to measure demand and improve the service. None of them holds your name or your phone number:

  • Request records: the bike, the number of days and of bikes, your licence country and eligibility status, the city, the start month and how far ahead the trip is (in broad steps such as “0–1 day”), your answers to the optional questions about a deposit and the rate, and the page the conversation started from. They are linked to a pseudonymous code: a salted hash of your WhatsApp number, or a random browser session ID.
  • Your messages and Kai's replies, with names, phone numbers, email addresses and document numbers removed, so we can see what riders ask and improve the answers. A receipt among them can show the number of days and the start date.
  • Site events: page views and clicks under a random browser session ID, the country worked out from your network address (the address itself is not stored), the device type and the page you came from.

After 24 months these records are unlinked from the pseudonymous code and kept only as anonymous statistics.

Your choices

You can ask us to access or delete the data linked to your chat at any time — see Data deletion. You can also stop the conversation at any time.

Security

Connections are encrypted in transit (HTTPS; WhatsApp messages are encrypted between you and WhatsApp). Access to data is limited to what is needed to operate the service.
